Welcome to the Falcon Inn & Hotel, Painswick The Falcon Inn and Hotel is situated in the heart of the legendary Cotswold countryside, in picturesque Painswick, the 'Queen of the Cotswolds'. The village is famous for it's unspoilt beauty and friendly welcome, and lies directly on the rambler's paradise the 'Cotswolds Way'. The Falcon's location means that it is very much a first choice stopover for walkers and tourists enjoying the breathtaking, rambling Gloucestershire hills and valleys all around. The accomodation consists of twelve spacious, en-suite bedrooms fitted with TV, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and luxury down feather bedding. Two of the rooms are also fitted with four poster beds, ideal for a romantic stay. The Falcon Inn is rated as 3 Crown Commended by the English Tourist Board as well as AA 2 star and RAC. There is a large restaurant providing a full and varied evening menu, along with specials, snacks and light bites at lunchtimes. There is a traditional, cosy bar area, as well as a more lively bar that provides live TV, pool and darts; along with friendly banter from the locals! |  | Built in 1554 it served as a courthouse, as well as a licensed house from the 17th century, and the court of the Baron was held at the Inn for 200 years.It was on many occasions the scene of cockfights and the first ever Masonic ceremony in the county was staged at the Falcon. From the beginning of the 19th century until the advent of the motoring age, the Falcon was the principal Coaching Inn and Posting House for the region with stage coaches leaving regularly for destinations throughout the county.The Worlds oldest bowling green is in the grounds of the Falcon Inn.
